The Namibia Adventure

The PODAS Namibia Group

Recently Phase One completed a Master Class PODAS workshop in Namibia. Master Class workshops are real adventure – photo workshops. Participants are owners of Phase One cameras or have been on a previous PODAS workshop.  Our aim is to elevate the workshop experience and have more advanced instruction in a more remote part of the planet. This workshop was lead by Andy Biggs one of the most recognized Africa adventure leaders and Bill Atkinson of APPLE fame. Both are Phase One users and great teachers. The group was small because of airplanes and other travel restrictions through the region. This is a first class experience as are all PODAS workshops. I am posting here the first batch of candid workshop images for the workshop and will post the next batch this evening. The images these folks came back with are incredible and we will do our best to post a gallery in the near future.

PODAS workshops are happening fast and furious over the coming months. We begin with Scotland next week, followed closely after it with Monument Valley, then a few weeks later New Zealand. You can follow all of the workshops here plus get the latest PODAS workshop news.

A Taste Of A Workshop To Come

Olympic National Park - Future PODAS Workshops This Fall

I have just completed the scouting of a workshop being planned for September in Olympic National Park.  This is a huge and very picturesque park. There are mountains, rain forests and incredible seascapes. We are looking to be doing this workshop right after Labor day. More information will be posted on our site soon. This is Phase One territory. The detail that you can see in this image on the computer is stunning. Right down to drops dripping off the leaves. I can’t wait to make a big print. We’ll announce this workshop and others soon.

We have two openings in our upcoming Mexico workshop due to cancellations. If you are interested in this get in touch with us and go to our workshop page. We may even be able to supply a camera.

Announcing PODAS Namibia Master Class, Sept 23rd – Oct 3rd, 2012

Join us on ultimate Photo Safari Adventure with instructor Andy Biggs.

PODAS Master Class
– a workshop exclusively dedicated to Phase One owners

The goal of this workshop is to photograph the breathtaking desert landscapes of Namibia at three unique and beautiful locations. This will be a flying safari,. We will maximize our safari by flying from location to location. This will enable us to carry an adequate amount of camera baggage and eliminate long drives.

– This private flying safari covers fascinating attractions in Namibia and offers stunning landscape from the air.
– We will fly to three amazing destinations in southern, central and northern Namibia: Sossusvlei, Serra Cafema and the deserted mining town of Kolmanskop.
– The Namib Desert may well be the world’s oldest desert. The apricot-colored dunes at Sossusvlei are some of the most beautiful landscapes on earth. Herds of mountain zebra, gemsbok and springbok roam the area.
– In all the parks you will have the opportunity to spend quality photographic time.
– Finish on a high note in the magnificent northern landscapes along the Serra Cafema mountain range near Angola.

New Zealand PODAS Workshop Sold Out

Earnslaw Burn, New Zealand

We are happy and sad to announce that the PODAS workshop being held in New Zealand this December is sold out.  While it is always nice to fill a workshop it is a disappointment to have to turn people away.  PODAS workshops have been doing very well but we limit the number of people based on logistics and room availability.  We are making a waiting list in case someone cancels.  If you are interested in New Zealand PODAS and want to be notified if someone cancels then drop me an email. . .  kwr@phaseone.com .  We will be announcing workshops for 2012 soon.

PODAS Palouse Is Only A Few Days Away

A typical Image from the Palouse, This time of year will be the harvest and golden in color

What promises to be one of the best PODAS workshops ever is only a few days away. We begin our workshop in the Palouse area of Washington this Wednesday (August 24th).  We will end the workshop driving folks back to the airport on Monday (August 29th). We have 4 great instructors and the inventor of the NEW IQ series backs on this workshop. Our instructors are Michael Reichmann, Art Wolfe, Mark Dubovoy and Jeff Schewe as well as Claus Mølgaard (Chief Technology Officer and Vice President R&D at Phase One).  There will be 5 Phase One team members along to assist including Claus Pedersen – (President US). Leading the workshops will be Kevin Raber – (Vice President) with Murray Elliott, Jon Gilbert and Brent Siebenaler. It’s not to often you will find a team of executives as well as sales and support member in the field shooting with attendees. Speaking of attendees there are 28 attendees from around the world. All attendees will be shooting with a Phase One IQ160 camera system for the duration of the workshop. Classroom sessions will include training on Capture One and the use of the cameras. Also, each instructor has a presentation. This is a no worries workshop. Phase One arranges and takes care of everything for one fee.  We pick you up at the airport and return you there after the workshop. Everyone gets their own room, meals, transportation, a camera bag, 2-30×40 prints, and a lot of time with instructors and staff.  Anyone who has been on a PODAS workshop knows you don’t get a lot of sleep as we will be  shooting sunrise each day and working until late at night on images. Everyone will tell you that they make great new friends and have an awful lot o fun. Oh, everyone walks off with some pretty darn good images too. Watch the blog here as we will be making regular postings highlighting our adventure.
