PODAS Tuscany Was Quite The Adventure

The PODAS Tuscany 2013 Group Photo

Sorry for the delay in posting our final post from the Tuscany PODAS workshop.  Lots going on.  We had a terrific workshop and saw a lot of Tuscany.  We spent time in the countryside shooting broad landscapes and then shooting in villages capturing the essence of the people and community.  We had a terrific day in Sienna too.  This was a group made up of photographers from Israel, Germany, Canada, US, UK, Russia, India, Spain and UK.  It amazes me on these workshops that the passion of photography can bridge and differences between countries.  We could not have done this workshop without Art Wolfe and Hans Kruse our instructors.  Art Wolfe mad several presentations that inspired us to see differently.  On the last night we did a slide show with everyone’s images and you could see the influence that Art had.  Art will be with us in a few weeks when we embark on the Kimberley PODAS adventure in Australia.  I hope you enjoy these images.  We should have the 2014 workshops posted by mid-summer.

PODAS Tuscany Full Speed Ahead

The Classic Tuscany Landscape

The Classic Tuscany Landscape

The Tuscany PODAS workshop has been running for two days now.  We have an excellent group of attendees from all over the world and two fantastic Instructors.  We kicked off day one after picking everyone up from the Rome airport Upon arriving at the hotel after the drive from Rome we did introductions and handed out Phase One camera systems to everyone.  Monday and Tuesday we were up and out the door by 5:45 AM for sunrise images.  This is followed by a breakfast and programs at mid morning until lunch.  So far Kevin Raber has presented Capture One and 2 workflows and Art Wolfe gave a very inspiring talk on seeing differently. In the afternoon we go out to various locations and stay out sunset. Since Art’s program  everyone was using their new found inspiration to see differently and take shots different.  Of course we had a nice dinner each evening accompanied by great local wine.  The workshops goes until Sunday so check back for more.

One More Day and We Start

A Tuscany Sunrise

A Tuscany Sunrise

The last two days have been very busy prepping for the PODAS Tuscany workshop that officially kicks off on April 21st.  Tuscany is a landscape photographers dream.  The villages and landscapes are exceptional.  Tuscany also takes on a whole new look at dawn and sunset.  This will be where we spend most of our time focusing our photography.  We have early morning shoots as well as sunset shoots planned from Sunday through next Saturday.  I’ll be posting images as often as I can so you can share our adventure through Tuscany.  Please come back often and visit.  For now I’ll leave you with the sunrise shot taken yesterday.  Made with the NEW IQ260 and 240mm lens.  This is turning out to me my favorite combination.  The 240mm lens is one of the best lenses I have eve used.  The sharpness and contrast is second to none.  It’s going to be a long week and we have a great team and attendees from all over the world.
